This was the year that the Headmasters and Targetmasters were introduced. Each came with a smaller partner that became their head or their gun, respectively. This year also brought forth the largest Transformer ever, a double Headmaster who would return in new colors twice more... Fortress Maximus.

This was also the year that the cartoon ended on American shores, with the 3-parter "Rebirth". It continued on in Japan as a new series, Headmasters, which ignored Rebirth and continued for 35 episodes. The comic, however, continued in the US and UK.


    These I have few of. It's hard to find complete Headmasters or Targetmasters on the secondary market, or even just the smaller partners....
